Director Janev on a visit to the Serbian Police

Director Janev on a visit to the Serbian Police

The Director of the Bureau for Public Security at the Ministry of Interior, Aleksandar Janev, today (10.12.2025), as part of his working visit to the Serbian Ministry of Interior in Belgrade, held a working meeting with his host, the Director of the Serbian Police, Dragan Vasiljević, and also met with the Minister of the Interior and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić.
During the meetings of the Macedonian police delegation with their Serbian colleagues, among other things, the traditionally good and friendly cooperation between the two police forces was once again emphasized, with a joint commitment to give new momentum to this trend towards even stronger development of bilateral relations and future joint activities.

In addition, Directors Janev and Vasiljević discussed several topics related to concretely intensifying operational police cooperation. They expressed mutual commitment toward more dynamic exchange of information and data in the fight against organized crime, terrorism, prevention of illegal migration and human trafficking, cross-border crime, as well as the possibility for joint police investigations — JIT. The meeting also covered stronger action toward fugitives from justice, the potential for joint border patrols, as well as the exchange of knowledge and expertise in financial investigations, crypto markets, and more effective identification of illegally acquired property.
The joint conclusion was that, through transparent and dynamic cooperation and true partnership, the Macedonian and Serbian police will continue to contribute to stronger national and regional security in the interest of both countries and their citizens.

Furthermore, within the traditional police cooperation, Director Janev was presented with a letter of intent with an invitation from the Serbian police for the deployment of uniformed Macedonian police officers to Serbia’s winter tourist centers.
Also, during the working visit, the Macedonian police delegation led by Director Janev visited the command center — the traffic management services of Serbia’s “Safe City” system — as well as the units of the Serbian police responsible for the security of the city of Belgrade.
